How to Become a Real Estate Agent

There are two principles that hold true in the real estate business. The first is "Underneath all these is the land," and the second is "There's always money to be made by the innovative real estate agent no matter the state of the market."  So, if you want a job that's lucrative, pays high commissions, and offers flexible hours and relatively straight-forward training, you should consider becoming a real estate agent.

There are certain personality types and qualities, however, that fit this career particularly well and can make all the difference between success and failure. For the first-timers, there is a 90 percent chance of failing during the first year. But to those who persist and persevere and are willing to pay the price, they can expect great financial and personal rewards.

A successful real estate agent is goal and people-oriented. Being social and optimistic can help a lot as well. You must have the passion to help people realize their dreams, and that passion in turn, will help you make a living.

So obtain the necessary specialized training to succeed in a highly competitive industry. Every state's licensing requirements differ somewhat, but in all states you will need sponsorship by a broker and be on the lookout for tips and opportunities. This entails hard work and dedication. The good news is that you do not need a college degree to become a successful real estate agent. A couple of months of self-study, either by going to a school or using online resources, is all that is needed. Afterward you will be ready to embark on a very promising and rewarding career.

Finally, the best way to grow in your profession is to become a member of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). The NAR provides continuing education courses, networking opportunities with its over 1 million members, and adheres to a strict code of common ethics and standards of practice. This association is also always searching for ways to improve services to its clients, so membership can be of great benefit to you.

If you are looking for financial freedom and you demonstrate the above qualities, you should definitely consider becoming real estate agent.
