we recently had our personal home appraised and recieved a shock of 130k less than an appraisal done two years ago. i realized we are in a very depressed market and our area is not immune, but this is a 4400sq. ft. brick custom home on a gold course in central n.c. that has more upgrades and features that iam able to list. i could not even build the house for less than 400k without the lot. the appraiser measured the outside and spent about 4 minutes inside and then looked at tax value and a few comps and came back with this. my question is as to weather or not there is any regulatory authority that oversees the work of appraisers and holds them to some accountability. i want her to defend her position. this is real money we are talking about here and 14 years of our hard earned love and care of this property. this appraisal borders on being slanderous and libelous to me. appreciate any insights.
