Best Websites to Find Foreclosures

Foreclosure Investing is a great way to maximize your purchasing dollars, but there are so many different places to find them. How do you even know where to start? Below we’ll discuss some of the best websites to find foreclosed homes and other distressed real estate.

  1. www.foreclosurelistings.com lists foreclosures in all fifty states. You can get a free seven-day trial membership to the site, which includes access to an informative eBook and property listings. The site also offers a free newsletter.

  2. www.freeforeclosuredatabase.com claims to be the largest free national database of bank-owned and government-foreclosed properties. You can sign up to receive free email alerts of new listings for specific cities, browse listings, or read blog entries and articles on foreclosed properties.

  3. www.foreclosurenet.net offers a free seven-day trial of its services. The site provides the ability to search the foreclosure listings by zip code, by city and state, or by selecting a county from the state map. The site states that its listings include over 40,000 bank foreclosures and government-foreclosed homes.

  4. www.ushomeauction.com, website of the Real Estate Disposition Company, lists auctions of public foreclosures, including large, multiple-property auctions. Representatives from financial institutions are on-site at the auctions to assist buyers with their financing options. Auctions are held across the United States, with homes being sold by region. For instance, 40 homes in the Kansas City area are sold at one location in Kansas City in one day; the next day, 60 St. Louis region homes are sold in St. Louis. The site has a calendar that shows upcoming auctions or you can search by state.

  5. www.foreclosuredata.com lists over 1.2 million properties nationwide. The listings on this site include homes in foreclosure, pre-foreclosure properties, real estate involved in bankruptcy proceedings, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) homes, and other distressed properties.

  6. http://www.realtytrac.com offers searches just for foreclosures. You can search county-wide for foreclosed properties or you can easily narrow your search by city or zip code. You can also sign up to receive free daily email alerts as new foreclosures become available.

These sites are only the tip of the iceberg. Foreclosed properties are also listed on many regional sites. By using “Google” and searching for “foreclosure listings” in your city, state, or region, you are sure to discover even more sites similar to the ones discussed above, but specific to your geographic area. Many banks and other financial institutions also list foreclosures with real estate agencies and their listings can be found online through the agencies’ Multiple Listings Service (MLS). With just a little time invested searching through listings online, you’ll find the foreclosures you are seeking!
