April Celebrations

Now celebrated in many countries throughout the world, Earth Day advocates awareness and appreciation of our natural environment. I remember how excited I was when this day was set aside in 1970 to remind us to "watch over" our precious natural resources, and to teach and promote natural, clean, and healthy ways to use these resources---without destroying the environment.

And this Friday, Arbor Day---a nationally celebrated day that encourages planting trees---will be celebrated in most states in the U.S. (Other states may celebrate Arbor Day on a different day, depending on the planting season.)

Today, I'd like to pay tribute to all of the wonderful home improvement products and building materials that are "going green." Everything from "smart" water heaters, solar energy panels, furniture, and homebuilding materials made out of recycled products provide us with the amenities we want and, just as important, with less stress on the environment.

HomeGain, an online real estate marketing site connecting real estate agents and brokers with homebuyers and sellers, has launched a new green initiative in conjunction with the Arbor Day Foundation. There's a "click to plant a tree" campaign, real estate tips to "go green," a green podcast, and links to green blogs.

When upgrading your home or rehabbing an investment property, I urge you to "think green" and utilize eco-friendly products and services whenever possible.

Do you have a favorite tip you'd like to share about how you've incorporated "going green" in your real estate investing?
